Nellie Mortimer

Mortimer, Nellie Mae of Habarka Road, West Middlesex, Shenango Township, Mercer COunty went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Nellie was born in Rimersburg, PA, Clarion County on July 31, 1937 to William and Sarah Ruth Ferguson Wert. She married Gale D. Mortimer on November 20, 1954. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of West Middlesex for 53 years. She held the position of Sunday School Superintendent; Director of Vacation Bible School and also a teacher of Released Time for many years. She was a devout mother and wife to her husband of 56 years. Nellie is survived by her husband, Gale "Mort" of the residence and one daughter, Lori Ann Esguerra (Francisco) of Antioch, IL and two sons, T. Glenn Mortimer (Connie) of Waukegan, IL and Robin D. Mortimer (Pamela) of Pulaski. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Shannon Marie Mortimer (Willis Bretz Jr.), Corey Dewayne Mortimer (Brittany Hinkle), Sarah Ann Mortimer-Esguerra, Christopher Dewayne Mortimer, Daniel Glenn Mortimer, Brianne (Scott) Safransky, James Donbar, Kari Gilstead, Jeff Gilstead and a great-grandson to be born in May. Nellie is a high school graduate and an Alumni of Penn State University. She is preceded in death by her parents, and an infant grandson, Joseph Michael Mortimer-Esguerra. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of West Middlesex and visitation will be on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3126 Main Street, West Middlesex from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the funeral home. The Reverend Sun Shick Chung of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at Rimersburg Cemetery, Clarion County.
