Charles Ketcham Obituary

Charles Bruce Ketcham

GROVE CITY: Charles Bruce Ketcham, 75, of Grove City, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Emeritus at Pinnacle, Grove City. He was born June 7, 1936, in Elmira, New York, son of the late Charles E. and Jessie Gridley Ketcham.

After serving in the United States Army, Charlie obtained Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Fine Arts from Alfred University in New York. He retired from Hocking Valley Community Hospital as a lab technologist after a previous retirement from Anchor Hocking as a Senior Designer. During his career as a commercial product designer and artist, he was granted four U.S. design patents. He was the designer of Corelle Livingware. In 1968, he exhibited products in Yugoslavia and the XIX Olympiad in Mexico. Charlie achieved an Eagle Scout with a Gold Palm award. This distinction, among his many others, exemplified his character. Charlie always put other's needs before his own. Family was what mattered to Charlie and those of us lucky enough to call him Dad, Gramps, Brother, Uncle and Friend know how truly blessed we are.

He is survived by children, Melissa and Jim Albright of Grove City and Ted and Collene Morrison of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Drake Albright and Evangelia and Juliana Morrison; his twin brother, John Douglas and Doris Ketcham of Beavercreek; sister-in-law Carole and Larry Campbell of Tennessee; nephew, Scott and Tammy Schoonover (children, Matt and Ciara) and niece, Tiffany Schoonover and her husband John Owens (children, Gusty and Maeve) all of New York.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, his wife, Joice Ryan Ketcham.

My deepest sympathy to Melissa and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I remember your dad very well as I had worked with him at Anchor Hocking in the Design Dept at Plant 1.

I worked with Chuck at Anchor Hocking. I always enjoyed spending time with him and Joice. It was tragic when Joice passed. My thoughts are with Mellisa.
