Charles Meshack Obituary
MESHACK, Charles Culmer of Los Angeles, California, formerly of Dallas, TX, passed away October 5, 2006. He was born January 27, 1945 in Dallas, TX, in the home of his parents the late Charles Meshack, Jr. and V. Jewel Washington Meshack.
Charles began his early life as a member and was baptized in the St. Paul AME Church family under the pastorage of Rev. W.E. Carter. He participated in many programs under the auspices of Ms. Henderson, Ms. Gregory, Ms. Myrtle Shepard as teachers and mentors, just to name a few. He attended Phyllis Wheatley Elementary, H.S. Thompson Middle School, and Lincoln High School in Dallas, TX where he earned the prestigious top rifle team record award in the ROTC. After graduation in 1963 he entered the United States Marine Corps and graduated from Paris Island Boot Camp. Two of his childhood buddies (Reginald Sephus and Larry Jessie) who also enlisted proudly and served our country were always right by his side. While in the service he traveled the world (Okinawa, Japan; Taiwan; Hong Kong; Philippines; Hawaii; Canada, and Vietnam) and was honorably discharged in 1968. During his professional career, Charles entered the Fashion Institute of California and earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising. After graduating from FICC, Charles entered L.A. City College, majored in Business Law, Theater Arts and Film School, which was the start of his acting career. Charles' TV and commercial career had parts like Bob Newhart Show, 1st & Ten, HBO/They Came From Outer Space. His movie career included such films as: Commando, Action Jackson, Fear, Honor Betrayed, LaBamba, Child's Play 2. He was a previous Methodist and in 1982 at the Crenshaw Christian Center he proclaimed to be a Born Again Christian. The Lord blessed him with the love of his life in 1974, Josephine German (Quezon City, PI) and they married in August 1984. Charles and Josephine were lovebirds, enjoyed such a beautiful union. Josephine preceded him in death in 2004, from which he never recovered. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, sons: Kriston M Meshack (Judy), Charles Andre' Meshack; stepchildren: April Yoser (Adam), Jose, Rolando Jr and Jay Banzon (Aimee); mother: Vyvyan Jewel W Meshack; brothers: Michael, Bryan C. Sr.(Lillie); sister: Ruchele Evans (Olious, Sr.) and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2006, 11:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Church of The Recessional, 1712 S Glendale Ave, Glendale, CA.
