I was very sorry to hear the news of Lou's passing.
My stepfather, John Sutherland, was his brother. I remember what a great support Lou was to my Mother when John passed away in 1985.
My condolences to his family.
Take care,

I worked with Lou at Wyle Labs from 1966 to 1971 and met up him on many occasions, both socially and professionally, after I subsequently returned to England. He and his wife Marilyn were the most delightful people one could wish to meet and my wife Glen and I have been very sorry that distance prevented us from seeing more of them over the years. Fellow acoustics specialists will be well aware of Lou's particular talents - I certainly learned a great deal from him - and there can be no question that he will be sorely missed. - John Ollerhead, Loughborough, England

I remember that my husband Martin Lowson started work at Wyle Labs in Huntsville on the same day as Lou in the mid-sixties. We were newly married and having a big adventure starting a new life in America. Although we moved back to England about five years later, we remained in contact with Lou and Marilyn, and exchanged visits when we could. They were the kindest people you could ever wish to meet and very supportive friends. Lou was mentor as well as colleague to Martin and they collaborated on ideas and projects until Martin's death in 2013.
I was sad to hear of Lou's passing, but know that he had a good and fulfilling life, both personally and professionally.

Lou was a great guy, worked with him at Wyle for almost 25 years, a great engineer. I'm sure he will be missed by many people.
