Alice Zakian Obituary

Zakian, Alice (Elmassian) (90)
Born in Fresno, CA on Oct. 13, 1914. Survived by daughter Kathy (Richard) Terzian and daughter Patty Samarge, as well as her five grandchildren Susan, Steven and Greg Samarge and Jim and John Terzian, sister Belle Normart of Fresno, brother Herb Elmassian and sisters-in-law Roxie and Pearl Elmassian. She has many nephews, nieces and grand-nephews and nieces. Alice was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Henry Zakian; her son-in-law, Ralph Samarge; sister, Zaruhi Vartian and brother, Jack Elmassian. Alice was active at St. James Armenian Church, which she and husband Henry founded with other Armenian families in 1941. She also worked at the Cafe Swiss Restaurant, Beverly Hills, for over 25 years. Viewing will be held at Inglewood Mortuary, 1206 Centinela Ave., (800)300-8137, Nov. 18, 2004 from 5pm-8pm; Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Armenian Church, 4950 W. Slauson, Los Angeles. Donations in Alice's memory may be sent to St. James Armenian Church, or Mt. Ararat Armenian Home, or the American Cancer Society.
