Bernice Spielberg Obituary

December 4, 1920 - February 28, 2016 Bernice Spielberg, passed away at home on February 28, 2016. She was born in Chicago to Martin and Fannie Goldsmith. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Arnold Spielberg, her sons, Jonathan (Susan), Daniel, Adam (Margie), stepchildren Steven (Kate) Spielberg, Anne (Daniel Opatashu), Susan (Jerry) Pasternak, Nancy (Shimon) Katz, seven grandchildren, many step-grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bernice graduated from the University of Chicago, where she met her husband, William Colner. She moved with her family to Pacific Palisades in 1960, where she resided the rest of her life. Bernice was a reader and loved literature. After her husband's death, she went back to school, received her masters degree and taught creative writing at Valley State University, Northridge. She married Arnold Spielberg in 1997. They had many happy years together, traveling the world and enjoying life. The family wishes to thank Dr. David Reuben of UCLA's Alzheimer's & Dementia Care program, his staff and the many providers that cared for Bernice in her last years. Donations may be made in Bernice's name to the UCLA Alzheimer's & Dementia Care program.
