Michael Sutherland Obituary

SUTHERLAND, Michael Born August 29, 1938 (Morgantown, West Virginia), died April 4, 2005 (Burbank, CA). Survived by his loving partner of 27 years, Christopher Gragg. Special Collections Librarian at Occidental College for 34 years. Son of Mildred Haymond (Fairmont, WV) and Charles Fish Sutherland Jr. (Morgantown, WV); brother to Frank Sutherland (Morgantown, WV); the late Charles Sutherland III and the late Sally Sutherland Gurtis; beloved uncle to (8) nieces (Mary Gurtis Hice; Sarah Gurtis; Ann Gurtis; Susan Gurtis Kearby; Mary Coffey; Martha Mueller; Amanda Sutherland and Angela Sutherland) and (8) nephews (Jim Gurtis; Charles Gurtis; Andrew Gurtis; Matt Gurtis; Charles Doyle Sutherland; William Sutherland; Adam Sutherland and Austin Sutherland), (10) great-nephews and (9) great-nieces. Memorial service at 3pm, April 14, 2005 at the Occidental College Chapel followed by a reception until 6pm in the Library's Braun Room.
