Nick was our friend since the day we met him as fellow Fulbrighters in Lille, France. He was the charming outlaw in our group, ever challenging the staid traditions of French society and ever getting away with everything thanks to his boyish charm, that deftly disguised a brilliant mind.
His loss is soul-shattering to us. Our condolences to Janet and the whole family.

PS We would dearly love to hear from Janet.

I adored my cousin, Nick. He was one of the finest, kindest, most giving & loving people one could ever know. I feel truly blessed to have had Nick in my life from childhood to his recent passing. The world is a bit dimmer without Nick. Loving you always & ever dear cousin.

I'm also from Waterbury and attended Yale with Nick. Nick played a very important role in my growing up. He helped me see and understand things that were abstractly based on truth and humanly nurtured with a kindness and full involvement of his person. I haven't seen him since Yale, but I think we always retained a warm friendship. Upon re-contacting him several years ago, he started his message "Dear Basil, please don't read the "Dear" of this salutation as a mere formula, but rather as the expression of a sentiment" For the 50th reunion of his Yale class, his gift was the funding of a full scholarship. I hope that someone will lead the way in having Nick inducted into the Waterbury Hall of Fame. He is someone of whom Waterbury can be proud. (I don't live on a minor outlying island, but rather Paris, France. [email protected]

My deepest sympathies on the passing of dear Nicholas. May the God of all comfort strengthen the entire family during this time of sorrow. Always remember that God keeps in his memory those whom we lose because they are precious in his eyes. (Psalms 116:15)
