Norman Dreyfuss Obituary

August 3, 1920 - July 29, 2013
One of the last of our "Greatest Generation," Norman Dreyfuss passed away on July 29, 2013, in Wheatland, Wyoming, just five days prior to his 93rd birthday. Since 1994, he spent his years in Arizona and Wyoming.

Born in New York City, on Aug 3, 1920, Norman leaves behind his two sons, Lorin and Richard, and his daughter, Cathy, all residing in California. He also leaves his brother, Gilbert, six grandchildren and one great grandson. He was always "Uncle Norman" to many nieces, nephews, friends and family members.

Badly wounded at the Battle of the Bulge in World War Two, he spent 18 months in military hospitals. He was honored with 3 Bronze stars, with clusters and a purple heart.

Starting working at the family "candy store" in Brooklyn, New York from age 11, Norman graduated from Brooklyn College, and Brooklyn Law School, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1949. After moving to California in 1956, he stopped practicing law, and spent years in business, becoming Chairman of various companies, including Marquest Medical Products, Portable Parking Structures, EFMC Manufacturing, Barsotti's, Inc. and Diverse Optics. He was also involved in real estate ventures in Los Angeles and the Coachella Valley.

Known for his humor, wisdom, honesty, and generosity, he was ahead of his time, helping develop alternative fuels for vehicles in the 1970's. He also had a life-long commitment to human rights, social justice and progressive politics.

He died of natural causes. A memorial will be held for friends and family later this month.

So sorry to hear of your father's passing, Cathy. He sounds like he was a wonderful man. I know how difficult it is to lose a father with whom you are close. Even if he has lived a long, full life, we miss him very much.
My condolences to you and your family,
Tovya (Toni) Wager
