I most peculiar woman. I knew her in college, lost touch, back in touch briefly in NYC when she owned a theater for a year or so then moved on. There were stints in Ptown, Maine (where halfway through a party she hosted she switched identies with someone else and pretended not to be Tammy (as we knew her), Florida, California, Stockbridge,Northampton, and finally Montana. I wonder what she was running from, but we hope she found peace.

I just learned of this great lady´s passing. Her love for performance cars was a trait of her mother´s doing. Her mother was as well very active in fast cars and racing . In fact she ordered a 250 pontoon testa Rosa and when Enzo heard it was to be piloted by a women instead of it being painted red. He ordered his workers to paint it yellow .... So other drivers would beware. Tami´s track tested her cobra as well. I was one of a few lucky people to attend a private viewing of her first play. Many good times . I was busy back in the 1980/90 s dealing with services I provided in the Soviet Union so we lost time and contact. I have a large 24/28 " picture of the 2 of us working on her cobra on my tool box which I see daily and answer many viewer's questions of who is that ... and will continue to answer their questions as long as I´m alive. May she rest in peace and drive without restrictions in heaven .

I just saw this as I was looking up people, from long ago , who had captured my heart - even for a brief period of time - That " I wonder whatever happened to " moment ..... I suppose a common characteristic of us who have attained a certain age ....Tammis was one of those . Unlike most of you who knew her as an young adult or adult , I knew Tammis as a blonde haired, freckle faced 11-12 year old when she , Hookie and I were all together at Cowan School in Carmel Valley , Ca . She was a bright shining light , even back then .Extremely intelligent , highly capable , ready for anything and , in retrospect , very kind and patient with a younger boy who had ( and I suppose ,almost 60 years later - still does have ) such a crush ..... if memory serves me correctly , she was my first ever slow dance back in 1961 ? Moon River was the song ...... It looks like you lived heckuva life , Miss Tammis and , I'm so glad .....

Tammis was a remarkable person. Private, on the move, creative, mysterious....funny and fun!
I met her through a fax! She faxed me in 2001 to inquire about my art ... then...sight unseen....purchased 3 of my largest paintings over the next 6 months! We only met 1x in person 2 yrs after that initial fax.... because SHE decided to be my Art Matron!! Tammis generously financed my art shows and art studio for the next 10 years! She believed in ME!.... it's really all any of us need .... and she gave that to me....and from what I eventually understood is ...she was THAT generous to other artists as well! Tammis & I became phone friend's for a couple of years ... which was an honor for me! We'd cover such diverse topics and laugh about soooo many quirks of life. I will always be grateful to her for "seeing" me for who I am ...and she allowed me to "see" a bit of her complex personality as well. I loved her from a great distance.... and respected her privacy. We hadn't been in touch the past 2 yrs. with moves and life's changes. I just received news of her passing ...and am grieving OUR LOSS!
Thank you Tammis Dear.... you changed my life for the very better.

I have so many fond memories of Tammis from school days in Maryland. She was full of life, had a wonderful quirky way of looking at things, and was a brilliant actress. I haven't seen her for many years, but she will remain a vibrant force in my memories. I miss her.

I have many fond memories of Tammis when we both lived in New York. She on Perry St, and Diana Moore and I were right on 6th Ave. always a phone call away for fun and adventure. When I moved to L.A. we all went our separate ways. I fondly remember our time together, and greatful for those moments. So sad to read about her passing and find it hard to believe that beautiful spark of energy is now extinguished.

Saddened by Tammy's sudden departure from our earth.
I was matched with her at her brother TJ's wedding in 1973. Once I made her laugh the week was an adventure with her.
Even more disturbing to me is I saw her last at TJ's memorial in Reno March, 2014.

All of us at Oldfields School remembers her for just the qualities everyone has mentioned. She was warm and friendly and very involved with the advancement of the academic program at Oldfields. For this and so much more, we will be eternally grateful. Her classmates join me in thinking of her and her family at this time.

Tammis was a big part of my life during high school in Maryland, college in Vermont, Westhampton Beach, NY and Provincetown, MA. We fell out of touch in later years, through no fault of either of us except perhaps because of geographical distance. Tammis moved a lot. I never stopped having love for her. She was part of my childhood and felt like family to me. This comes as very sad news.

From my first meeting with Tammis , I knew she was a woman of heart. Private, intelligent,, independent , one of the most creative souls I know. I missed her when she moved to Montana. We shared many memories over the years, and now I miss her more.

My knowledge of, and connection, to Tammis Day was very brief. She certainly radiated a joy of life and intense energy. She certainly seems 'gone much too soon',
