Eleanor Gropper Obituary

Eleanor Anne Gropper August 1, 1936 - November 3, 2012 Eleanor Anne Gropper passed away November 3rd, succumbing to an especially aggressive form of Lymphoma. At the time of her death, she had been in the care of doctors at Stanford Hospital for less than a week. She was 76 years old. Eleanor was born August 1, 1936 in Philadelphia, Mississippi to William and Eleanor Buckwalter. Along with her only sibling Sandra, she was raised in Pacific Palisades. Eleanor graduated from Stanford University in 1958. That same year, she married Lee Gropper. The couple raised two sons in Los Altos Hills. While they eventually divorced, she never remarried. Eleanor worked for Stanford's National Accelerator Laboratory in the 1980's, but her passions were Astrology and Numerology, about which she wrote extensively and provided personal consultations often focusing on parent-child relationships. Other interests included her gardens, going for walks, and hiking near her second home in Mount Shasta. Eleanor was well known to family and friends as a vibrant, witty and outspoken free spirit. She?ll be missed by all including longtime companion John Sennett. Preceded in death by her ex-husband, and eldest son, Roger, Eleanor is survived by her sister, Sandra Smith of Germantown, Tennessee, her son, Craig, daughter-in-law, Michelle Tuzee, and grandchildren, Christian William, Theresa Diane and Joanna Eleanor of La Canada Flintridge. A celebration of Eleanor's life is planned for March.

I decided to Google Eleanor today. I'm saddened to hear of her passing. Just the last few days I was going through Astrology papers and charts. I was a member of South Bay Astrological Society in the 1990's. At a club meeting was where I met Eleanor. Once I was at her Los Altos, CA home and she cast my chart for me. I always enjoyed her fun personality.

Our deepest condolences to Craig and his family. We were good friends of Eleanor and Lee's in the sixties, seventies and eighties, and had many good times together. Lee worked with Bob at Beckman's Spinco Division in Palo Alto. We enjoyed many company-related activities together, as well as personal get-togethers with other good friends, Bernice and Ed Herkenhoff. Eleanor was a very beautiful, stately lady, witty and charming. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
