Bettye McCartt Obituary

July 4, 1932 - August 16, 2013
Bettye McCartt, the longtime Agent/Manager for actor Tom Selleck and TV director Tony Wharmby, died of heart failure on Friday, August 16, 2013 in Santa Barbara, California.

In the 1960's, Bettye moved from Oklahoma to Los Angeles where she started a long career in the entertainment business, first as a publicist at Twentieth Century Fox. She was also associated with the production of "The Godfather" and "The Longest Yard", among other films.

McCartt was owner Agency For Artists and a partner in McCartt, Oreck & Barrett Talent Agency; her former clients included George Clooney, Billy D. Williams, Brian Austin Green, Louis L'Amour, Henry Miller, Maureen O. Hara, Anthony Quinn and many, many others.

McCartt is survived by daughter, Shannon Alton, of Santa Barbara and son, Mark Breeding, of New York City.

Plans for a memorial service in Los Angeles are pending.

I met Bettye, when I was Shannon's boy friend, she was the kindest most down to earth person I had ever met. She was always so fun to be around and I miss her and Norman so much...Hello to Shannon !
