I offer my condolences to Merlin's family. As you know even better than I, his was a life well-lived. I met Merlin at a Christian Legal Society of Los Angeles meeting at Tuttle & Taylor in 1973, when I was a law student at UCLA Law School. He introduced himself when I knew almost no one. I practiced law in downtown LA for 44 years thereafter, and over most of those years had a number of occasions to talk with him at CLS-LA meetings. At least in those settings, he never sought the limelight. He was the faithful, reliable servant of the Lord who helped guide all of us to His will. When a handful of us formed Christian Legal Aid of Los Angeles in 2005, he became a faithful donor to CLA-LA every year. I rejoice that he is with the Lord.
