Delia Salvi

October 17, 1927 - March 1, 2015 A celebration of the life of Delia Salvi, longtime resident of West Hollywood will be held at 11AM on March 7 at Westwood Memorial Park, 1218 Glendon Avenue, Los Angeles, CA. At the age of 87, Delia joined her mother Renata Vanni on March 1, 2015, after a brief illness. Growing up in lower Manhattan, Delia's early life centered around Italian Theater & Radio. At 6 years old she was performing as a singer in a children's opera group. In the 1940's when her mother was offered a contract with Warner Brothers the family moved to Los Angeles. Delia received her MFA and PhD from UCLA, and went on to become a professor at her Alma Mater, eventually achieving tenure at the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television; one of the first women to do so. Delia's creative gifts as a teacher and performer impacted the lives of numerous young actors and directors, many of whom went on to become successful in the entertainment industry. Her 50-year adult career encompassed work as a professor, professional acting coach, consultant, director, and actor who appeared in motion pictures, television features, and theatrical productions. She conducted Master classes in Portland, Seattle, and Toronto, as well as Amsterdam, Brussels, Tel Aviv, Rome, Paris, and Madrid. Delia was a lifetime member of the Actor's Studio, a voting member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences and author of Friendly Enemies: Maximizing The Director-Actor Relationship published in 2003. She is survived by her cousin, Arnaldo Delehaye of Naples, Italy and a circle of loving friends.
