Dr. Raven was one of my most important, and favorite, teachers at UCLA. He was an old-fashioned professor knowledgeable over a broad span of subjects, committed to teaching, and a gentle counselor. He brought an amazing cast of characters from Oakland to Poland into his little research shop, and we learned and laughed together. A true scholar, and a kindly mentor, he made a big difference in my life, and in the lives of many people over many years. A life well lived. He will be missed.
