Jonathan Shaw Obituary
August 16, 1972 - May 10, 2016
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jonathan Cole Shaw, age 43, who passed away on May 10, 2016. He is survived by his children, Ethan and Benji Shaw; fiance, Kristie Opfer, father, Dave Shaw, oldest sister, Kimberly Fatone (Todd); brother, David Shaw; twin sister, April Widmayer (Leif); nephews, Kyle & Cole Fatone and Austin & Casey Widmayer. Jon is predeceased by his loving mother, Cheryl Ann Shaw.
Jon was an avid surfer with a gentle heart, friend to all, free spirit, and lover of life who found a silver lining in everything. He was a talented craftsman skilled at building stairs as well as friendships. Jon was easy going, charismatic, a kid at heart, funny and fun loving, sensitive and soulful, sweet and kind. His sparkly blue eyes and bright smile were indicative of his warm and genuine nature.
Jon's love for the ocean was second only to the love he felt for his sons. They, along with his fiance, family and friends, will miss him dearly. Until we meet again...the best wave of your life is still out there; stay salty, stay stoked!
The memorial service will take place in Seal Beach on Saturday, May 21 from 11-2 pm on the grassy area by the River's End jetty (15 1st Street in SB). Please bring beach chairs/blankets and a picnic lunch - casual beach attire is encouraged. For additional information please contact the family at [email protected].

Jon, You were kind, Gentle and Selfless. I'll always remember the time my brother and I went to Universal Studios Halloween Haunt 2 years ago with you. Poker Parties will not be the same any more without your shining face. But the chair and chips will remain at the table side. We'll all miss you and I hope you sleep well my friend, very well.

Jon said to me one time, Barry, if we were in vietnam together, I'd want you as my partner. We were leaving 2nd street very late and decided to head down south straight to mexico, only to run out of gas on the 22 freeway. I LOVE YOU JON SHAW.
