Ruby Emerson

Ruby Rose Emerson, 57, passed away peacefully in Dexter, N.M. on March 7, 2013. Ruby was born Nov. 4, 1955 to Ralph and Almeda Emerson in Las Cruces, N.M. Ruby was the second child of three. Ruby graduated from Mayfield High School in 1973 and was a lifeguard at the Apodaca Park swimming pool. After receiving her Welding Certification from NMSU, Ruby moved to Roswell to work at the bus factory. She remained in the area having made many friends. Ruby was most recently employed by American Federal Contractors, a job she loved and enjoyed her coworkers. Ruby's favorite hobby was roaming the desert hills searching for rocks with friends. Ruby was an animal lover and always kept pets in the home. Ruby enjoyed food made with New Mexico chile. Ruby enjoyed travel and took opportunities to visit other countries, including working in the Middle East for two years. Ruby is remembered as a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her kindness and laughter are missed. Ruby is survived by her parents, Ralph, Sr. and Almeda Emerson of Mesilla Park; her brother Carl (Jacquelynn) Emerson of Tebbetts, Mo.; her brother, Ralph, Jr. of Mesilla Park; and two nephews Eric (Tara) Emerson of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Dane Emerson of Tebbetts, Mo. Ruby is survived in the home by best friend Margaret Malacara and her son Mauricio of Dexter. Other survivors include Aunt Joan Emerson, cousins Larry (Maria) Emerson and Dennis (Susan) Emerson, two great nieces Ashlie and Ellie Emerson and great nephew Kyle Emerson. Ruby joins uncles Calvin Emerson, Joe Emerson and Jay Emerson and cousins Bill Emerson and Marcella Cayhill. A service will be held on April 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Christian Church at 241 Three Crosses Ave. in Las Cruces. Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 Montana Ave. in Las Cruces.
