Cataula, GA- James "Jim" Devitt, Jr., 68, of Cataula, GA died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Dan MacMinn officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Devitt was born August 24, 1947 in Buffalo, NY, son of James Francis Devitt, Sr. and Janet Lovelace Devitt. He worked in advertising as the owner of Diamond Jim Devitt Advertising. Jim was a loving husband and father and was an active member of Bigham Chapel United Methodist Church. He served in Vietnam and was assigned to C Company 4th Infantry Battalion as a Combat Medic. Jim was awarded two purple hearts during his tour in 1969.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Francis Devitt, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, JaneAnne Devitt, mother, Janet Lovelace Devitt, two daughters, Jennifer Devitt, and Holly Blackmon, son, James Devitt, III (Kasey), brother, Guy Devitt (Polly), sister, Laurie Devitt, and 8 grandchildren.
