Ellerslie, Georgia- Jimmie Eugene Carpenter, age 67 of Ellerslie, Ga., passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Hamilton, Ga., with Pastor Rick Lipp officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Waverly Hall.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Carpenter was born January 6, 1950 in Memphis, Tn., the son of Jimmie Lee Carpenter, Jr. and Gerline J. Mitchell Carpenter. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was retired as a self-employed insurance adjuster in the Columbus area. He was a member of the Fort Benning Masonic Lodge # 579. In addition to his father, Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by a brother, Randal Todd Carpenter and a grandson, Jimmie Lee Carpenter.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jeannette Louise Carpenter of Ellerslie, Ga.; his mother, Gerline J. Carpenter of Columbus, Ga.; a daughter, Sheri M. Kasprzak, of Andover, New Jersey; a son, Jimmie Lee Carpenter (Kristina) of Waverly Hall, Ga.; six grandchildren, Gabriel E. Kasprzak, Sebastian A. Kasprzak, Zoe Louise Kasprzak, Nicholas C. Campbell, Mia K. Campbell, and Jackson Lee Carpenter; two brothers, Patrick L. Carpenter (Mary Esther) of Birmingham, Al., and Michael L. Carpenter of Columbus, Ga.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Danny Ray Hopkins (Sharmin) of Phenix City, Al., and Debra Shue (Richard) of Waverly Hall, Ga.
