Jim, I am so very sorry for your loss. Two years ago, on October 29-31, 2010, we were celebrating our TJHS Reunion, together, where you were our Senior Class President. So very many wonderful memories and you hold onto those wonderful memories of your Dear Mom. They will sustain you for a lifetime. God bless you and your family during this most difficult time.

Condolences to the Kennedy family. My late mother, Hilda, considered Leola a dear friend.

You were fortunate to have a great mom, and she was lucky to have such a great family. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers and celebrate her life.

I wish peace and fond remembrances to Leola's family. Mothers are special and their loss is always deeply felt. May we all live as long and productive a life.

It was my honor to be Leola's friend and Sunday School teacher for a time at Monument Heights Baptist Church. As it turns out her son, Jim, and I were "lifers" at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield by then. Leola and Mary Fuson were best buds and it was my pleasure to take Leola to the hospital to see Mary just before Mary and Pat moved to TN to be near family. Leola was a genteel Southern lady and I so appreciated her insights and dry wit. She was a fellow football junkie and we rooted and suffered together!! I will miss her and as she would say our friendship was an "unwrapped gift" in both of our lives. May your happy memories of Leola's chuckle and twinkling eyes bring you great comfort in the days ahead. May God give you peace.

While I did not know Grandma Kennedy long, I feel blessed that I got to spend what little time I did with her. We had so much in common; from our love of turtles, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and fried chicken to our KY roots and even our voting preferences. She even commented once that I had great taste in guys (although she may be biased since I married her grandson).
Grandma Kennedy was a beautiful woman and I will miss my visits with her dearly. I look forward to sharing Krispy Kreme doughnuts with her again someday.

A number of years have passed, but I remember when Leslie and Leola would visit southern Indiana. Leslie would have his polaroid camera and enjoyed taking pictures to give us. Of course, we wanted to peel off the processing paper from the picture before it was developed! My Grandma Eva shared many fond memories of them both. What a legacy Leola will leave to her family. May God Bless the entire family during this time of sadness. -Linda Wilson

I will always fondly remember Leola as a true lady of the South. She had an attitude about the South that I loved and respected.
As I approach the 29th year tomorrow of being married to her daughter I feel a need to thank her once again for Carolyn, so thank you Leola for allowing me to share my life with her.
I will miss our talks about the state of Hokie football and the great political discussions. Thank God that we agreed as I would hate to have been of the wrong side of that argument. I would bet that she will be working the polling place in heaven on Tuesday. LOL. Now of course she would not know what LOL means. He visits to my family wherever we happened to be living were always a treasure, especially over the holidays. And how could I not thank her for introducing me to John Marshall pies. The one this Thanksgiving will be dedicated to her. No, every future John Marshall pie will be dedicated to her. No, that is not good enough! From here on, in this family anyway, it will be known a Leola pie!!!
She, and the rest of the family, never let me forget the concrete rake incident, b ut I forgive her for that. I am still a little peeved that I had to learn about Hollywood Cemetery in a Patricia Cornwell book. OK, not really peeved, but it was funny when I confronted her with that. It was always so enjoyable to hear her stories about the old Richmond.
Leola, I miss you and will always cherish your memory. May God bless you always and rest in peace. Oh, and tell Les that I wished I had the opportunity to know him. Judging from his daughter he was special.
I love you!!!!
