Herbert E. Koepp

Herbert E. Koepp, 72, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2010, at his home in Afton, Virginia.

Herbert was born on March 10, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, the eldest son of the late Herbert and Ella Koepp.

Herbert is survived by his loving wife, Rochelle Koepp; his brother, Robert Koepp and his wife, Janet, of Jacksonville, Illinois; his brother, Howard Koepp of Charlottesville, Virginia; his sister, Dorothea Koepp Huebschman and her husband, Ray, of Seward, Nebraska; his daughter, Becca Miller and her husband, Jim, of Rochester, Illinois; his son, Peter Koepp and his wife, Stacey, of Pinehurst, North Carolina; his stepson, Anson Brown and his wife, Sara, of Baltimore, Maryland; and his five grandchildren, Kelsey, Joshua, Jason, Jennifer and Sam.

After serving as a Lutheran minister until 1969, Herbert worked for another 21 years as a United States Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent and as the Chief of International Training. In his retirement, Herbert still served as a consultant and instructor for domestic and foreign agencies. Herbert was also an antique tool enthusiast who enjoyed reading, cooking and listening to bluegrass and classical music. Most importantly, he loved the 11 years he spent on his farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains with his beloved wife, Rochelle. Herbert's love for learning, sense of humor and gentle spirit will be forever remembered by his family and friends.

A private memorial service will be held in Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart and Vascular Institute, c/o University of Virginia Health System Development, P.O. Box 800773, Charlottesville, VA 22908.

Rochelle, how sad we are to hear of Herb's passing. It seems like only yesterday Herb and I were running all over the country together. Herb was a great partner.
