PARKER, Jean Clary, 93, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Francis Byron Parker Sr. Mrs. Parker is survived by four children, F. Byron Parker Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Richmond and Urbanna, Virginia, Carolyn Jean Parker Sheffield and her husband, Frank, of Nashville, Tennessee, Susan Parker Farmer and her husband, Wayne, of Powhatan, Virginia, Jimmy Parker and his wife, Kathy, of Chesterfield, Virginia; nine grandchildren, thirteen great- grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth N. Stewart of Orangeburg, South Carolina and Alma M. Clary of Chesterfield, Virginia. A longtime, active member of First Presbyterian Church, Jean served on the Diaconate and the Session, as president of the Presbyterian Women, Superintendent of the Church School, and was a teacher, circle and Bible leader. While a member of The Council of the Virginia Museum, she was the volunteer manager of the museum shop. Her interests also extended to the Richmond Lawyers Auxiliary, where for many years she was a guide in the Court Docent Programs for Richmond and Henrico. In addition, she loved flowers and gardening and served as president of the Windsor Farms Garden Club and was a member of the Tuckahoe Woman's Club. The family will receive friends at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23230 on Tuesday, September 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 4602 Cary Street Road, Richmond, Virginia 23226 at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14. Burial will be private. Memorial gifts in her honor can be made to First Presbyterian Church/ Presbyterian Women. Her family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers at Lakewood Manor.
