Dear Whitty Family -
We send our deepest sympathy of Arthur's passing. His warm, patience and smile had made my two daughters more relaxed at sitting before their pictures were taken. His collages of my daughters still hang on the walls of our hallway. We will miss him very much.

Arthur was a kind, gentle person. Both our daughters Nicole and Jennifer worked at the studio during high school. Jennifer and Arthur also worked on a special project of his leaving us with a very beautiful album and many stories of the photo shoots in her tutu at the most unusual places. We have many photos that will always remind us of his talent and the kindness he shared with our family. Our thoughts are with you, Scott and Leslie Putnam

The entire staff at LustreColor and I would like to offer our deepest sympathy to Lucie and the Whitty family. We had the pleasure of processing all of Art's amazing images over the years - his work was terrific! I personally was privileged to have both Art and Lucie as friends as well as clients. Rest in peace my friend, I'll always remember you.

Working for Arthur at the photo studio was educational but also a very warm, fun experience. He treated us more like family than employees. I have fond memories of helping him elicit smiles and squeals from the children for the beautiful portraits he was so exceptional at making.

So many of my memories of our girls' childhood were captured by Art, and as I study those pictures, I can see and hear all the stories of spending time with the Whitty family--and the goats, and the pony, and the bunnies--and the laughter.....these are treasured moments of long ago times. Rest in peace, old friend.

Can I edit? I will never forget Arthur's sailing experiences he related to me, a long time sailer. I am glad to see the photograph of him in the sailing environment!

My condolences to the family; I met but very briefly the younger ones. Both Art and Lucie were such gracious people. I will never forget his seminar in the Hollis yard. The last three years I drive by frequently and think of that special occasion, an NHPPA seminar! One past President to another: we will miss you, Art. Bob did frequently ask me if I knew his whereabouts. Art was special - rest in peace, buddies!

Frances & I would like to offer our sincere condolences on the loss of Arthur. Arthur was more than a talented a photographer but one the kindest colleague I have ever met. I considered him a true friend although we had not seen him in a few years. I personally enjoyed my many conversations with him either about photography or our lives in general. Being sadly missed would be an understatement.
Arthur. You are now in the boson of the Lord. Rest in peace friend.

My condolences to the entire family and all that knew Arthur. I never had the opportunity to meet him but seeing his work at the Nashua Mall and at the homes of friends always inspired me with my own photography.
I always heard wonderful things about Arthur as a man. He certainly left a wonderful legacy in how he treated people and inspired so many of us.
He will be missed by many. My sympathies to all that loved him.

My deepest sympathy to the Whitty family. Arthur’s timeless photography will be his legacy for sure, but I will also remember a gentle and kind man who loved to sit around a campfire with friends and family singing songs on his guitar, telling stories, loving and laughing all the while.

When I think back to my many photographed sittings with Arthur, I always remember his smile. A talent that can't be denied concerning the mechanics of photography...but what I remember even more was how he seemed to connect with all of his clients. His bigger talent lay in skill he had with making his clients comfortable and getting them to laugh. He was able to bring out the natural beauty in all of us. I specifically remember, when I was young, him pulling a chicken out of nowhere and watching it fly away... I was amazed...and you can see that amazement in the snapshot he took. He, was the Norman Rockwell of our time. I will remember his warmth and how he could always make me laugh.

My parents and one of my brothers (Tommy) have passed on... like Arthur, too soon. We have beautiful family photos that were done by Arthur in natural light. They are so cherished and his talent was something special. May he rest in peace as I am sure he will. What a story his photos tell of the lives of so many New England families... he put us in our best "light" and now it is his turn.

Lucie, Heidi, Naomi & Dan, I'm so sorry for your loss. Art & Luce were my first bosses ever - I spent at least 10 years there on & off. You became 2nd family to me.
I remember riding my horse double with Christina, and telling Art & Luce about it til we almost peed our pants ;)
I remember teaching the silly goats tricks for the photo sessions. My aunt & uncle gave goats Ben & Emma a home for their entire lives, and Krystal was with me for her whole 12 years.
Who does NOT remember Snoopy the Bunny? Seriously! I think there were over a dozen of them :)
Arthur had the greatest way to relax people during the photo sessions. He was just so calm and casual, just engaged them in idle chatter, and it all just flowed.
The images that came from his lens were magical.
When Dan & I got married, we were saddened to learn that Art had retired. We called anyway, and were honored that Art & Lucie were up to the task!
My wedding pics are second to none - and as we come on our 10th anniversary, we were planning on enlarging a few more for our kids rooms.
Thank you for the memories Arthur, for the best Damn Christmas Parties EVER, and the song - THE SONG!!! The "Bomb Bomp Adie and Bomb Bomb Achero's" will be running thru my head forever.
Love you Arthur, I'm glad you are in a better place and hope for your peace. Christina is there for you, love to you both.

My daughter was one of the last graduates that Mr. Whitty photographed before he moved to Maine. He was so kind and considerate and did such an outstanding job. Everyone in this area knew him and his work. He will be sadly missed. My deepest sympathy to his family. Cathy Fowles

I was so sad to learn of Mr. Whitty's death. I had my senior portrait done by him in 1980 and he photographed my daughter for the first 10 years of her life. The wall collage in my home of his photos always prompts compliments, still today. He was such a gentle and kind man and I so enjoyed our yearly trips to Hollis, catching up on the news of their growing family from Lucy.
My sincere sympathy to the Whitty family on the loss of Art. Would that we could live in a world as beautiful as that seen through his lens.
