If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Dear James and John
I know today is difficult. I hope this poem eases your pain somewhat. I know your Mom's loving spirit is living in you and you will feel her touch always, esp. in those times you find the hardest.
I keep her smile in my heart.
Sincerely,
Joyce

James, John, Tammy and your family ~
What a beautiful uplifting service for Emma! And James after you read that sweet letter to your Mom, there was not a dry eye in the service. All of us who had the pleasure of knowing Emma have been truly blessed. I first met Emma through your Uncle Gene at State Farm and your Grandma Fannie back in 1975. She also checked on my husband when he was a patient there a couple years ago. Whether you saw Emma at MJH or out in the community, she was always smiling and always, always had a hug for each and everyone she came in contact with. She had such a positive influence on all our lives. We all will surely miss her!! Let us all live our lives in such a way that we will see her again one day. She is now with her parents and brothers whom she loved dearly. James, John, and Tammy ~ she will be with you always and watching over you. Thank you so very much for sharing her with us. She will forever be in the hearts of so many who loved her dearly. Our loss is definitely Heaven's gain. What a beautiful Angel who is now among the very best in Heaven. May God hold each of you in the palm of his hand. May your many, many memories comfort you in the days ahead. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Jimmy and Lynn Rutherford-Snow and Joshua and Ashley Durham Smith

What a lady! I only knew Emma's first name. As a matter of fact, I don't even remember how we met, but whenever we saw each other we'd just run and hug each other. She was like a fresh drink of water or a breathe of fresh air. She was the epitome of jolliness. She had a smile that could brigthen your worst day.

James, John and Family:
I am deeply saddend to hear for the loss of Emma. I knew her from being my husband and mother's nurse. Martha Jefferson has lost a great nurse and a wonderful lady, who gave so much love, kindness, compassion, and who cared so deeply for all of her patients. She would always make you feel like you were family with her hugs and smiles. In time the ache in your heart will be replaced with peace from her loving memories. May the love of God surround you all during this time of sorrow. You're in our thoughts and prayers. May God Bless You All.

January 13, 2011

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Emma. Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this sad time. Martha Jefferson Hospital has lost a great nurse, the community has lost a special lady who touched our lives in so many ways. She has gone from our midst, but not our hearts. She left a lasting impressions in our minds and hearts with her smile, warmth, and caring ways. Heaven is a better place with her there. Emma was and has been one of my closest friends since high school. We were in the same homeroom, and each morning during the winter months we sat on each others cold feet to warm up (of course our back sides got cold). She always took care of others with everything in her life-gave great backrubs to my husband during his hospital stay eleven years ago, took care of my mother during her hosptialization, and everywhere I saw Emma, we shared big smiles and huge hugs. I shall miss her terribly. She was a great friend, devoted and superior nurse, and as my husband said, "She was a true and caring lady."

Emma Coleman was one of the many nurses that cared for me at MJ hospital after surgery in 2003 & 2010, but she was the most outstanding because of her sincere kindness the gentle love and nurturing she administered. She was the quintessential nurse and I kidded her that she was the Florence Nightingale of the ward. I am deeply saddened for this loss, both to her family and our community.
I am certain she is remembered fondly by all those whose lives she touched. My prayers are with her family during this time of profound loss.

MJH will never be the same without sweet Emma! She was and always will be to me the epitome of a nurse and the "caring tradition". To know Emma was to know the very fruits of the Spirit: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” (Galatians 5:22). I have wonderful and beautiful memories of my time with Emma on South 5. My condolences to her sons and family. Praying for comfort for you all as you grieve and miss her. She will be so greatly missed!

James and John I am so sorry for your loss. I know it is Heavens gain as your Mom was an angel here on Earth. I worked with your mom for 17 years here at MJH and I loved her dearly. You were so blessed to have her for a mom and I know she loved you dearly by the way she always said "my boys". I cried when I read the remarks about Emma and her cousin going to the barn to milk as Emma and I often talked about growing up on a farm. We had so much in common. May God comfort you and know that your mom is watching over you always.

Emma was a nurse to me on several ocassions during my stays at MJH.
Her laughter and that great big smile
was very comforting as she came to my room. She was the nurse everyone would want when they were at MJH.
May God bless her and her family.

James, John and family, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to you. Emma remained the same throughout her life as she was in high school-a genuine, loving, caring person. My family was blessed for having known Emma. She was a true "Angel on Earth."

When I first met Ms. Coleman, I was a novice nurse; and I remember thinking that she epitomized "nursing." She was the kind of nurse that I wanted to be; the sincerity for which she cared for her patients and her co-workers was effervescent. And, I am still striving to be the kind of nurse that Emma was. She was a wonderful professional and lady; and she will indeed be missed by many. But, her legacy will never be forgotten. I offer my most sincere condolences to the Coleman family.

Emma was the kindest nurse I have ever had the pleasure to work with with. She always went out of her way for everyone. Everytime I saw her, I received a huge hug, which would make my day. She was always a positive person, always with kind words to say. I am going to miss this angel a great deal. She was what we should all aspire to be, everyday.

Emma was a true lady whose mission in life was always to help others--and she did so with the most wonderful smile. She treasured her boys and family, and was such a great comfort to our family when we needed a shoulder and hug. I always felt better after spending time with her. She touched so many lives, and the wonderful memories that we all have will keep Emma in our hearts forever.

At a young age to me (perhaps 5 or 6) I can remember my cousin Emily taking me to the cow barn at milking times. It's somewhat funny what the older kids would do to the younger ones but all in fun. Emily told me once that I had to drink from the utter of the cow for that was all I could have so yes I did that and of course NO hot milk wasn't for me. Emily and my sister always laughed at me for that. Emily was always caring and shared lots of knowledge with us as children for she was a bit older and looked up to her and always enjoyed seeing her on weekends when we would go to visit. I can remember Emily telling me that the dogs won't bother you but still I feared the dogs for they would come up to the vehicle and really carry on until someone would come tell me (dogs) it was ok. I didn't get to see much of Emily as we got older but what I do remember of her was fun times and good laughs. Emily has gone to be in peace and to continue to look after her parents and brothers whom she missed greatly. She will always be in our thoughts.
As to everyone whom she left behind she would want us to go on with our normal life and tp remember the good times that was shared by one another.
love your cousin,
Sissy and Mrs. Roger Clements
