Sister Joan Anne Gallagher Sister of Charity of St. Elizabeth, 92 Sister Joan Anne Gallagher, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, N.J., at the age of 92. The wake for Sister Joan Anne Gallagher will be held in Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, N.J., from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 6 p.m. Burial will be on Thursday, June 23 in Holy Family Cemetery, Convent Station, at 10 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service. For more information, please visit parsippanyfuneral.com. Sister Joan Anne was born in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of John and Anna Stapleton Gallagher. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 25, 1943, and was a member for 73 years. Sister Joan Anne graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, N.J, with a B.S. in elementary education. She served in the education ministry in New Jersey. She taught in St. Vincent School, Madison; St. Joseph School, Oradell; St. Michael School, Union City; St. Paul Elementary School, Ramsey; Our Lady of Grace School, Hoboken, and at the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station. Sister Joan Anne retired to St. Anne Villa in 2007, where she resided until her death. Sister Joan Anne was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, John and Donald Gallagher. She is survived by Sisters of Charity, her sister-in-law, Jean Gallagher, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
