Age 59 of Dalton, GA previously of Big Flats NY and Hammondsport, NY died Wednesday, November 30, 2016. He was born in Elmira on June 26, 1957 to the late Frances A. & Daniel B. Burns. Survived By brother, James (Barbara) Burns, Rocky Face, GA and Hammondsport, NY; sister, Patricia Burns Fiore, Southborough, MA and Hammondsport, NY; nephews, Christopher Fiore, Southborough, MA, Eric (Tiffany) Boyle and their daughter Pressley; niece, Tamara Boyle; also predeceased by brother-in-law, Steven Fiore. Dan is a 28 year former Employee of Corning/World Kitchen 1979-2007 (19 Years with Corning, 9 years with World Kitchen). "Danny's parent's bought the family cottage on Keuka Lake in August of 1959 and he spent every summer there from the age of two until his illness in 2007. His greatest joy was being at the lake with family, friends and neighbors." He is a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother, Horseheads, NY & St. Gabriel's Parish, Hammondsport, NY. He was a long-time member of Boy Scout Troop 42, earned his Eagle Scout Award and continued with the Troop for many years as Assistant Troop Master. Danny's special place was always Keuka Lake so we ask in lieu of flowers - or in memory of Danny, please make donations to the Keuka Lake Association, (https://www.keukalakeassociation.org/gifting_donations.php) whose mission is to preserve the lake he loved so much and protect its natural beauty. We are also very grateful for any contributions to the American Diabetes Association (envelopes available at the Funeral Home and his Mass). The family will receive relatives and friends at the Kalec Funeral Home on Sunday, December 4th from 2 to 5 p.m. A prayer service there on Monday, December 5th at 9 a.m. followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Elmira. Burial to follow in Sts. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
