I have just learned of Helen's passing and am so sorry that I am just now able to acknowledge this. Helen was a favorite person of mine for many years, having first met her when she was the incredible assistant in the Dean's office at NMSU. She made that office with her kind personality and incredible smile to all of us who came in, usually "desperate for help" !! Our paths crossed again when my family joined First Baptist Church. Soon after she and my mom, Ruth Lord, became great friends and enjoyed many activities together. She was such an encourager for my mom as Mom grew in her faith. Helen was a wonderful Bible teacher and did great preparation for each of her lessons. I enjoyed her teaching as well. Helen would often house sit for us when we traveled and would "look after" Mom who lived in the casita. I have so many great memories of doing things together. I was able to visit Helen some when she was living in Good Sam and then in the nursing facility and no matter her condition, that smile and twinkly eyes were always in place. Amazing???? Yes, and amazing woman of grace and beauty, fully aware of her Lord and Savior, Jesus! God bless this family at this time of loss....Is it not wonderful to know where she now resides? Hallelujah!
