CHARLES DAVID WALSH (Age 68)
Better known to his friends and family as "C.D.", passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 20, 2017 with his beloved Suzanne by his side.C.D. was born in Troy, NY on January 21, 1949, the youngest son of Richard & Angela Walsh. He was the much loved baby brother of Richard and Anthony Walsh. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a gifted athlete- serving as captain of his high school baseball and basketball teams and as a club All American football player at Georgetown University. After graduating in 1972, C.D. remained in the Washington, DC area and became a larger than life personality in the local bar and restaurant industry.No matter who you were- the boss or the busboy- CD always took the time to listen to you. We will miss his infectious laugh and his sarcastic jabs. God Bless CD and God speed.Family will receive friends on Friday, November 24, 2017 between 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 3305 Glen Carlyn Rd., Falls Church, VA 22041.

Ahh, CD! So many memories, so long ago. Shaker, Saratoga, Lake George, The Embers, you at second, me at short, shooting hoops in your driveway, your scary-fast yellow 67 Vette, talking about girls and baseball, your terrific brothers and parents, and so on. RIP old friend.

Tony, Richie, I'm very sad to hear of CD's passing, although we lost touch after college, he was a great friend to many of us at Shaker HS, many fond memories with him and both you guys!!!

One of my passions for a number of decades has been to be in Saratoga in the summer. I could not have had a better introduction to it than through the Walsh family. There they were, sitting at that first table in the third floor dining room virtually every day that I climbed those stairs.
And, of course, the bonus was that I live in DC, so we had a key Walsh link, the incomparable CD, once back in the Capital.
Every family has its traditions and little "secrets" that they pass on to the next generation. Even though not all of my six children met CD, they grew up with the "C.D. School of Tipping" drummed into them. And so many waiters/waitresses and bartenders have been made very happy ever since...and will continue to be for generations to come. Thank you CD! My deepest condolences to Dick and Tony on the passing of youngest brother CD. Having delivered The Times Union to their house on Campus View and coached CD in Little League at St. Pius in 1961, I knew this wonderful family for many years. He was a great ball player and fun loving young man who was loved by everyone. He will be missed.
