George Mallette Obituary

Mallette, George E.
GALWAY - George E. Mallette, 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved wife and children, on February 9, 2026. He was born in Albany, N.Y. on April 9, 1945, to George and Grace Mallette.
George is survived by his loving wife, Janet; his children, Mark Mallette (Beth), Jenny Mallette Edmiston (John Stahl), Christian Morrison (Melissa), Kelley Cluzel (Bill), and Tammi Clugston (Michael); his grandchildren, Trey, Annabelle, RJ, Madeline, Owen, Evan, Alizee, Beckett, and Viviene; and his great-grandson, Quinton James. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and his brother-in-law, Gordon. George lived a life defined by devotion to faith and family.
George attended Shaker High School, and graduated from Hudson Valley Community College. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, carrying the values of service and dedication throughout his life. Following his military service, George devoted his career to his family business, Adam Ross Cut Stone, where he served as Vice President. His leadership, integrity, and tireless work ethic helped carry forward the company's legacy.
Faith played a central role in George's life. As a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Ballston Spa, he was more than a congregant-he was a cornerstone of the church community. George served as a trustee and could always be counted on to do whatever was needed. Whether maintaining the property, assisting with church projects, or lending a helping hand wherever necessary, he gave generously of his time and talents. George was famous for preparing the most delicious pork and roast beef for the church's fundraising dinners, meals that brought the community together.
George found great joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing, boating, and camping, and took pride in caring for his classic cars. Winters in upstate New York were met with preparation and purpose, he never missed stacking wood from the trees he cut down or feeding the deer, small rituals that reflected his steady, caring nature.
Above all, George was a devoted family man and loved Janet with all his heart. He cherished time with his children and grandchildren and rarely missed their sporting events, concerts, plays, scouting events, and graduations.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 19, from 12 to 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church of Ballston Spa, with a service immediately following. A service with military honors will be held on Friday, February 20, at 10 a.m., at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to the United Methodist Church of Ballston Spa.
