Leroy E. Giles, Sr.

Dover-Leroy E. Giles, Sr, 84, of Pleasant View Circle died Saturday September 16, 2006 after a battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.

Born April 1, 1922 in Rochester he was the son of the late Leroy S. and Elear (Gauthier) Giles.

Leroy loved fishing and watching auto racing with his family and beloved predeceased friend Calvin Hayward. He was a member of the American Legion Post 47 for 41 years, a member of the VFW in Somersworth and also a member of the Dover Moose. Leroy was a strong man of mind and soul, a loving husband and father. Most of all, he was a great friend to all and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Noreen (Gillis) Giles, five sons; Ronald Giles and his wife Millie of Rochester, Gary Giles of Portsmouth, Leroy Giles, Jr and his partner Freda Cherette of Dover, Wayne Giles and his wife Theresa of New Durham, Paul Giles of Florida, two daughters; Debbie Giles of New Durham, Donna Smith of Strong, ME, one sister; Luciele Cunningham and her husband Phil of Lebanon, ME, one brother; Joseph Giles, 17 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren.

Leroy was predeceased by 2 daughters; Carol-Ann Giles and Linda Cassell, 2 brothers; Harry and Bill Giles, two sisters Tiny Burnham and Alice Parsell.

Friends may call Tuesday September 19, 2006 from 6-7pm at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave, Dover. Funeral services will follow at 7pm at the funeral home.
