David Giles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel on Jan. 27, 2026.
David Arthur Giles, age 67, of Ithaca, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday January 24, 2026.

Dave was born November 30, 1958, in Carson City, the son of Dean and Sondra (Simmons) Giles. He graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1977. Dave worked for the City of St. Louis, recently retiring, but his true passion was farming. He was a member of the Breckenridge Congregational Church, Moose, Eagles and Elks. Dave enjoyed farming, snowmobiling, hunting, trail riding, watching movies, especially James Bond and old westerns, and spending time at the lake.

He is survived by his daughter Stacey (Chris) Ensz and their child Gabe (Kerrigan), daughter Lindsey (Gregg) Austin and their children Kymber and Thomas, mother Sondra Giles, sister Linda (Paul) Varner, many nieces and nephews, and beloved partner Brenda Brennan and her children, son Adam (Stacie) Brennan and their child Austin Brennan, son Jacob Brennan, son Darren (Jenna) Brennan and their children Ryker, Madelyn, Grace and Hallie and many dear friends.

We as grandchildren knew that we were Papa's number one priority. He always made time for our sporting events and dance recitals where he was our biggest fan. He taught us to hunt, drive tractors, and trucks; riding with him in the tractor was always a highlight. A couple of our fondest memories are getting lost at Disney World together, not liking mint but getting a mint flavored donut from him three days in a row in hopes that one would be liked, and working on snowmobiles in the shop. He was also always there for us at the Gratiot County Fair For Youth (GCFFY), supporting us as we showed our exhibits and being way too generous on auction day. We will always cherish our memories, and we miss you Papa.

He was preceded in death by his father Dean and brother Jim Giles.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11 am at the Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge with Pastor Steve Gulick officiating. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 3 to 8 pm and again on Saturday from 10 am until the time of services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family of Dave to go towards a bench(s) at GCFFY. Memorials may be sent to Stacey Ensz 5773 W. Buchanan Rd. Ithaca, MI 48847. To view Dave's obituary or to leave a condolence or the family please visit www.luxfuneralhomes.com.
