Wesley Wellons Obituary

Wesley "Cooper" Wellons, Sr.
February 12, 1959 - February 14, 2021
Murrells Inlet, South Carolina - Wesley "Cooper" Wellons, Sr., 62, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away on Valentine's Day, Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Medical University of South Carolina. He was born February 12, 1959 in Dunn, North Carolina to the late William S. Wellons, Sr. and Florence Cooper Wellons.
In addition to his parents, William S. Wellons, Sr. and Florence Lou Cooper Wellons. Cooper is preceded in death by his two brothers, Charles Russell Wellons, II, & David Thomas Wellons, Sr. and nephew Johnanthan W Wellons.
Cooper is survived by his two sons, Wesley Cooper Wellons, Jr. and fiancée, Kristy Payne & William Hunter Wellons; two daughters, Florence Chandler Wellons & Ashlin Wellons Vaught and her husband, Blake Vaught; and grandchild, Lillian Vaught, all of Murrells Inlet; brother, Billy Wellons, Jr. and his wife, Colleen of Fayetteville, NC; Sister-in-laws Judy R. Wellons and Mildred J. Wellons, long time companion, Cynthia Wood, Mother of his children, Robin Beaver; Care giver Maybeline Evans, his beloved dog, Bella; cat, Carlos; and horse, Fancy; as well as a large, loving, extended family; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many supportive friends, neighbors and patrons.
Cooper was a North Carolina native who was very proud of his heritage and a very proud Conservative American. He was a proud Eagle Scout who achieved the Order of the Arrow. The Wellons Family was the 1st Family to have 6 consecutive Eagles Scouts in immediate Family in the State of North Carolina. Cooper went on to study Business at Northwood Institute in Midland, Michigan. Following his graduation, Cooper knew he wanted to start his own businesses.
Cooper was a natural born Entrepreneur. A man of vision. His first venture as a businessman was a lawn care business he started in his youth, even riding his pony daily to the bank to deposit his earnings at the drive thru. His drive and determination to succeed, carried Cooper on to owning and investing in video game businesses, owning and operating several hotels with his Brothers across the Grand Strand and eventually lead to his land development company. Always a hardworking man, Cooper relished driving in his favorite truck to find plots of land where his dreams could become reality. Recently, Cooper most enjoyed being on the farm he humbly brought his vision to life. A man of faith, Cooper was a member of Northwood Temple in Fayetteville, N. C. The Church that started in his Parents basement when he was a small boy and Lighthouse by the Sea Pentecostal Church in Myrtle Beach.
Since youth, Cooper always had a draw to the outdoors. He could most often be found hunting, fishing, horseback riding, water skiing or snow skiing. Cooper was a member of the Ski Hills Team and enjoyed spending time in White Lake, NC. He cherished the Farm in Falcon, N. C. that his Mother named "The Gathering Place". When Cooper wasn't finding his peace in the great outdoors, or visualizing his next big business venture, he could be found making memories with his Family and Friends. Cooper never met a stranger and would gladly offer the shirt from his back to anyone in need. He enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh. Above all else, Cooper loved his Family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered for the visionary he was as well as the amazing Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend he truly was.

Our heart felt sympathies go out to the entire Wellons family during this difficult loss. Having known Cooper since I was 3 years old and growing up in the neighborhood together, he was like an older brother to me and dear friend. I will always cherish the many childhood memories and fun times we had growing up. Rest in peace. You will be missed but never forgotten.
