She worked at Young & Rubicam Advertising Agency in New York City for several years before leaving to start a family. She later joined her husband and children as the office manager for the G. She and her husband were also leaders for Pre-Cana - preparing young couples for marriage. Joan loved: her backyard garden, indoor plants, animals of all kind - especially birds, watching football games on TV, singing her heart out at Sunday Mass, knitting, crossword puzzles, spending time with family and friends at the beach in Wildwood Crest and last, but not least, shopping for knick-knacks at the Wildwood and Cape May wicker stores and Christmas shops. Beloved Wife of the late G. Keenen O'Brien. Cherished Mother of Peter K. O'Brien, David E. O'Brien and his wife Andrea, Philip A. O'Brien, Nancy Anderson and her husband Joseph, and the late Kerry Lynn O'Brien. Adoring Grandmother of Meghan R. Anderson. Loving Aunt of many O'Brien Nieces & Nephews.
