Harry E. Miller Jr., 57, of Chartiers Township, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 31, 2022, in Wheeling Hospital, with his family and friends by his side.
He was born December 15, 1964, in Monongahela, a son of Harry E. and Leona Lilly Miller.
Harry was a 1982 graduate of Ringgold High School.
He attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Police Academy and was a part-time police officer for five years for several Mon Valley departments before being hired as a full-time officer for the Chartiers Township Police Department, where he served for 25 years, retiring as a sergeant in 2022. He also owned and operated Miller Snow Removal and Lawn Care services.
Harry was a member of Chartiers Lodge #297 Free & Accepted Masons in Canonsburg, Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club Chapter 16, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #22 in Meadow Lands and the Valley Inn Volunteer Fire Department.
He enjoyed many things in life, including riding his Harley, cutting grass, camping, spending time at Four Seasons Campground and traveling. To know Harry was to love Harry; he was a friend to everyone.
On May 6, 1989, he married the love of his life, Judy Dunmire, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Colton Miller of Washington; a sister, Lisa Whittaker of Eighty Four; his father-in-law, Howard Dunmire Sr. (Patricia); three brothers-in-law, Howard Dunmire Jr. (Joy) and Jeffrey Dunmire (Ann), both of Monongahela, and Robert Dunmire (Becky) of Oxford, N.C.; a stepbrother, Matt Campbell (Maureen); a stepsister, Rebecca Campbell-Moss; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Tina Marie Miller, who died in infancy; and his mother-in-law, Colleen Dunmire.
The family will receive friends from noon to 3 and 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, November 7, in Hall 2 at the Washington County Fair Grounds, 2151 N. Main Street, Washington, PA 15301, with memorial services for Harry immediately following at 7:30.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Western Pennsylvania Police Benevolent Foundation, P.O. Box 382, Meadow Lands, PA 15347.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342.
