Bruce Thomas was born October 8, 1947, to Mary Thomas and Lee White. Bruce gained his wings on January 9, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife Debra Wells Thomas, a son Tony (Tammy) Thomas of Jacksonville, Florida and Shenea Thomas, Donnell Wells, one sister Joanette Martin. Bruce has one niece and nephew and a host of grandkids and great grandkids, cousins, family, and friends. Bruce is preceded in death by his mother, grandparents Mary Bell and Laurence Thomas, one and only special aunt Katherine Thomas and a host of uncles, cousins, family, and friends. Visitation Wednesday January 18, 2023 from 9 to 11 a.m. with funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Gary, IN. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.

Debra I just heard of our dear Bruce transition. He is truly a friend´s friend. Bruce understood what friendship is and the value of those friendships. He and I have known each other since our early childhood. I can´t count the many times he would tell me that someone would ask if he was my brother, and I would ask him what was his reply? His reply would be " Yes " Bruce was always there for me as I would be there for him and he always gave me good advice. I remember the many times he would drive me to the airport and once drove me to St. Louis for a early morning check in during my TWA airlines days while I was on reserve. I will love and miss him and I know we will reunite at some point and time. Debra and to all his friends hold your memories of Bruce close to your heart for he is a gentleman´s gentleman and a rarity. Bruce from me to you. It comes as a shock to hear of Bruce´s transition. He is truly a friend´s friend and knew the importance of what friendship is and what it stands for. Bruce and I have known each other since childhood and he would tell me often that people thought he was my brother. I would ask him what was his reply and he said Yes he is. I will greatly miss him for he was always there for me as I would be for him. We shared great laughter together as well as tears. God bless you Deb for being in his life. I most humbly extend my greatest and most sincerest Condolences and Prayers to Debra Ann for her tremendous loss. Secondly, my Condolences and Prayers go out to Bruce's Family and to the Wells Family.
I am truly sorry, stunned, hurt and totally saddened by the passing of my Big Brother, Mentor and good Friend of 53 years. Bruce was my Family too. And there's not enough room on this page to talk about all the memories we had over the years as Brothers & Friends. One thing I can say is that, he was always there whenever I reached out and he never once treated me less than his li'l Brother. He was the type of guy who always kept things and he always kept it real.

I met Bruce back in 1969. We were fellow band members in a Musical group in Gary, Indiana called The Lostweekend. He was one of the vocalists and the person who kept things running smoothly between everybody in the band. He would always tell me that he felt like he wasn't good enough to sing in the group. And like a Brother, I wasn't hearing it and I was always encouraging him to just do what he do, and just do it good."And he did just that!" And in my professional and personal opinion, he was great! We went on to release records all around the world, toured and even appeared on Soul Train. And in all honesty, Bruce was the backbone of our band.
He kept us all together.

I can't say enough about how much I'm gonna miss my Big Brother. "Rest up in Heaven Bruce, I love you Man..."
