Joyce Ann Savka was born on March 15, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Rose Mary (Kanik) Savka. She attended Lew Wallace High School in Gary, Indiana. Joyce married Randall Ray King Sr., with whom she had three children before their separation. Later, she married Michael Grossman on November 1, 2009, celebrating 16 years of marriage; he survives her.

Known for her wit, boisterousness, and feistiness, Joyce was an outspoken, God-fearing woman. She enjoyed sewing and was a member of the Farm Girl Fabric sewing club in Ramsey. Her passions included listening to oldies music, attending concerts, and following wrestling and the Chicago Cubs avidly. Above all, she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A devout Christian, Joyce was affiliated with St. John's Orthodox Church in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Cyril & Methody Orthodox Church in Granite City, and later attended Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia. Her vibrant personality and faith left a lasting impact on those around her.

Mrs. Grossman is survived by her husband, Michael Grossman of Vandalia; daughter, Michelle and husband Richard Walker of Jeffersonville, IN; son, Randall King Jr. and wife Tina of Senatobia, MS; daughter, LaNette and husband Stacey Heselton of Vandalia; God-daughter, Kristina Romero of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Hillary and husband Michael Poindexter, Bethany Girvan, Richie Walker, Katy Silas King, Macey and husband Dalton Deming, Laura and husband Frankie Gomez, Anna-Grace Heselton, Matthew Hesselton, Eli Heselton, and Bodie Heselton; great-grandchildren, Sophia Walker, Zoe Girvan, Andie Deming, Avery Deming, Cian Poindexter, and Molly Deming; sister in law, Rhonda and husband George Scaggs; nieces, Amanda and husband Chris Jones and Victoria and husband Josh Newill; numerous cousins and friends.

My wife and I were very good friends with Joyce and her husband in the 1960s in Gary Indiana. Sue and I already had a daughter Sandra and Joyce just had a new baby girl Michelle. We lived in an apartment on the second floor and the girls would leave the apartment doors open and when Joyce needed help with the baby she would call Sue. We have stayed in touch through the years and Joyce will be missed and our sympathy goes out to all of her wonderful family. Sincerely Gary hott Sr..& Gary hott.II
