Sandra S. Martin

1953 - 2023

Sandra S. Martin, 69, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, while under the care of hospice with family by her side.
Sandra was born May 7, 1953, in Cuthbert, Georgia, to parents, John and Marie Standley.
She was a graduate of Randolph Southern Junior/Senior High School Class of '71, where she was class valedictorian.
Sandra met and married the love of her life, John F. Martin Sr. of Flemington, more than 50 years ago.
Sandra worked at the Heritage Bank for 40 years, where she held many titles, including vice president.
Sandra was elected to the Flemington City Council in March of 1981. She was sworn in as mayor of Flemington in December of 1997 and retired in 2017.
She loved traveling and spending time with her family.
Sandra was a member of Flemington Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Peggy S. Chapman.
Sandra will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Sandra is survived by her husband, John F. Martin Sr.; two sons, John F. Martin Jr. (Barbara) and Paul E. Martin (BJ); two grandchildren, Taylor Martin and Cadie Martin; and her brother, John Standley.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Flemington Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Greg Loskoski officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers: Tyler Rose, David Martin, Matt Stone, Adam Sanchez, Ross Floyd and Marty Martin.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Flemington Presbyterian Church.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home, Flemington, is handling arrangements.
