Hollis Brewster Obituary

A Homegoing Celebration Remembering the Life of Mr. Hollis Bernard "Boo-Boo" Brewster, 55, of Hobson City, Alabama, will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 12 p.m. at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Clarence Henderson officiating. Interment will commence immediately following the service at Anniston Memorial Gardens. There will be a public viewing for Mr. Brewster on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 3-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Talladega. Hollis Bernard "Boo-Boo" Brewster was born on February 3, 1968, to the parentage of Mr. John L. Teague and Leola Brewster Sturkie in Anniston, Alabama. At an early age, Hollis received Christ and united with Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Wellington, Alabama. He was educated in the Calhoun County School System and was a graduate of Alexandria High School. At the time of his passing, Hollis was employed as a machinist at RMG in Anniston, Alabama. Hollis, affectionately known by many as "Boo-Boo" was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and if you earned his friendship, you had a friend for life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, but his granddaughters were his top choice in life. Hollis loved his family beyond measures, and he is already missed by his family, friends, and all the lives he has touched throughout his 55-year earthly journey. If you knew Hollis, you know he was a well-known big trash talker with a heart of gold. He never met a stranger, and he was definitely "ONE TO KNOW". Hollis was a free spirit at heart, very kind, and generous man who enjoyed cooking, grilling, and fishing; but during the fall and winter season, he loved rabbit hunting and watching the Auburn "War Eagles" as he was an avid Auburn fan. Boo-Boo was also a long time affiliate of the USSC Social Savings Club. Hollis transitioned from this life to a peaceful rest on the morning of February 25, 2023 while in the comfort of his home. He is preceded in death by his parents John L. Teague and Leola Brewster Sturkie; grandparents, Margaret Brewster, Paul Brewster, and Cleveland Fomby; brother, Tony Sturkie and mother-in-law, Victoria Allen. He leaves his loving memories to be forever cherished by his loving and devoted wife of over 33 years, Erthel Brewster; son, Cornelius (Yani) Allen; granddaughters, Azaria Allen and Corniya Allen; Goddaughter, Ahlayah Allen; siblings, Melvin (Alisha) Sturkie, Tommy (Crystal) Sturkie, Brenda (Erskine, Sr.) Anderson, Betisa (Demetris) McLain, Chester Sturkie, Jeffery (LeVandria) Teague, John E. Teague, Paul (Cathy) Pearson, Charles Teague, Glenda Teague, Kay Teague, Marie T. Keller, and JoAnn Mathis; sister in-laws, Julia Sistrunk and Jessica Allen; brothers-in-law, Dexter Allen and Dennis Allen; aunt, Annie Paul Lewis; Godsister, Aretta Woodruff; Godbrothers, Eddie Woodruff, Jr, Samuel Woodruff, and Tracy Woodruff; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Hollis became my 1st friend in 1st grade on day 1 and earned a place in my heart and memories for a lifetime. I was blessed deeply by having met him, having his friendship, and playing sports beside him.

Even though our paths went in different directions those shared memories are so cherished. In my recall at this time I realize that I only have memories of his smile and laugh.

I sincerely wish his loved ones the calm of Christ and know that Hollis is certainly at that table by His side now smiling and laughing.
