Phyllis Brewster Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peck Funeral Home - Hartselle on Feb. 25, 2026.
Funeral service for Phyllis Ann Gilchrist Brewster, 64, will be Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:30 PM at Somerville Church of God with Bro. Michael Gunter and Bro. Pearl Jenkins officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Somerville Church of God Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Somerville Church of God.

Phyllis was born July 14, 1961, in Morgan County, to Phil Gilchrist and Joyce Ann Eubanks Gilchrist. Phyllis passed away peacefully on the morning of February 24, 2026.

Phyllis dedicated many years of her life to serving her community as a mail carrier with the United States Post Office, where she was known for her reliability, kindness, and warm presence on her route. She also worked alongside her husband, Skippy, helping her run their successful Brewster Sign business, a partnership that reflected their shared commitment and love for one another.

Phyllis was deeply devoted to her family. She especially cherished her niece, Heather, and nephew, Chad, who brought joy, laughter, and purpose to her life. Her love for them was devoted and unconditional- one of the clearest reflections of her heart.

Phyllis also leaves behind countless moments of laughter, including the way she could turn even an ordinary day into something funny. Whether she was telling a story with that mischievous grin or laughing so hard her shoulders shook, she reminded everyone around her not to take life too seriously. Those memories will continue to bring smiles for years to come.

A true animal lover, Phyllis adored cats and pets, caring for them with tenderness, and treating them as treasured members of her family. Her home was always filled with warmth, comfort, and a soft spot for every creature she loved.

Phyllis will be remembered most for the way she loved- with her whole heart and without hestitation. Her family, especially Heather and Chad, will hold close the countless memories, conversations, and moments of laughter that made their time with her so special.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that Phyllis is now resting in the arms of her Saviour, reunited with those gone before her. Preceding her in death were her husband- Ronald Brewster, her husband- Phil Gilchrist, grandparents - Vardy "Sport" and Moselle Gilchrist, and Auley and Maggie Eubanks.

Survivors include

Brother - Terry Gilchrist,

Sister - Karen Gilchrist Higdon

Niece - Heather Owens (Harrel),

Nephew - Chad Childers

Pallbearers will be Terry Gilchrist, Chad Childers, Harrel Owens, Darren Freeman, Skeggs Gilchrist, and Bill Gilchrist.
