Dwight Armstrong Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peck Funeral Home - Hartselle on Feb. 23, 2026.
Dwight Armstrong, 85, of Hartselle, Alabama, passed away on February 22, 2026.

Dwight was born on February 24, 1940, in DeKalb County, Alabama, to George Ervin Armstrong and Ruby Camillia Galloway. He spent his life rooted in North Alabama, where he built a career, a family, and a legacy defined by hard work, honesty, and devotion.

He worked for many years as a salesman and Regional Sales Manager with companies including Meadow Gold, Flav-O-Rich, and Purity. Dwight was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to connect with people, leaving a lasting impression on those he worked with and served.

Dwight was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Ann Armstrong, for 67 years and was a proud father to his four daughters: Teresa Lawhorn (Joey), Tenina Bili (John), Tanya Lybarger Childers (Jerry), and Teletha Ledfors (Freddie). He was a cherished grandfather to ten grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.

As a loyal Auburn fan, Dwight especially loved college basketball and rarely missed a game. He always supported his children in everything they did. This carried over to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of his greatest pleasures was cheering them on at their numerous activities. He always showed up with pride and support.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruby Armstrong; brother, Arnold Armstrong (Evelyn); sisters, Shelby Parris (R.L.) and Genell Maddox (Ralph); brother, Randall Armstrong (Joyce); and son-in-law, Scott Lybarger.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 24th from 6-8pm at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle.

He will lie in state from 12 - 1 PM at Broadway Baptist Church in Rainsville, AL, with the funeral at 1 PM.

Dwight will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and the countless memories shared at games, gatherings, and everyday moments. His legacy of love and devotion will live on in all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations be made to the Family Hospice Care @ 10000 Serenity Lane SE, Huntsville, AL 35803-3385.
