Verra Gales Obituary
LIMA — Rev. Verra Mae Gales, age 72, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at approximately 1:02 a.m. at Southwest General Heath Center in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.
She was born on August 5, 1946 in Lima, Ohio to the union of Nathaniel and Alma L. (Goudy) Gales; both parents preceded her in death.
Rev. Gales was former Pastor at Resident Park United Methodist Church in Dayton, Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church in Cincinnati and Free Spirit Church in Lima. She was former president of the N.A.A.C.P. Chapter in Lima. She received a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Bluffton University. She also received a Master's in Theology, Substance Abuse and Social Work.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory a Goddaughter; Gail Godsey-Johnson of Lima. A nephew she raised; Cortney Gales (Carletta) of Cincinnati, OH. 3 brothers; Nathan Gales (Nancey) of Phoenix, AZ. Robert Gales of Lima and Thomas L. Gales (Karen) of Macon, GA. 2 sisters; Rebecca Carter of Lima and Terri Gales of Columbus, OH. A dear friend; Carla Travis (Joseph) of Cleveland, OH. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death a brother; Joe Gales and a sister; Rose Mitchell.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Bucher, officiating.

It 's with deepest sadest to hear of Pastor Verra passing. I was born on her birthday.i remember coming down Union St to see her and her family as a child and a adult. She will greatly be miss by lots of peoples. May God comfort you all in your time of loss .

I remember as a young girl the very first sermon Pastor Gales taught as our Junior Church Pastor. It was about the five wise and five foolish virgins(Matthew 25th Chapter). I will always remember her teachings and continue to apply them to my life. Love you for teaching me what it means to live for the Lord! RIH Pastor Verra Gales!
