Mabel H. Marten
LINCOLN - Mabel H. Marten, 95, formerly of Emden, Ill., died at 6:40 a.m., July 22, 2014, at Lincoln Christian Village.
Mabel was born Feb. 16, 1919, in Emden, the daughter of Folkert and Ella Alberts Eeten. She married Harold H. Marten Nov. 29, 1941, in Emden, Ill. He preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1984.
Mabel is survived by seven children, Doris (Ken) Klokkenga of Delavan, Dwayne (Sharon) Marten of Normal, Roberta Marten (Bob Devine) of Lincoln, Roger (Carolyn) Marten of Lincoln, Vernon Marten of Wentzville, Mo., Carol Marten of Lincoln, and Galen (Joni) Marten of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren She was the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Grace Groth; and three brothers, Elmer Eeten, George Eeten and younger brother, George Eeten.
Harold and Mabel owned and operated the Marten Motors Dealership in Emden until the death of Harold. Mrs. Marten was a homemaker, a faithful member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Emden, St. Peter's Ladies Aid, and the Emden American Legion Auxiliary #506. She dearly loved her children, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Services for Mabel will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2014, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Emden with Rev. Frank Pieper officiating. Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4-7 p.m. at the church as well as one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Memorials may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Emden. Services were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
