Gary Fortin Obituary
07/12/1947-08/22/2018 - Gary Fortin was a loving husband of over 52 years to his surviving wife, Lynn Fortin. Together they raised eight children, Jeff, Julie, Jill, Jason, Jenny, Justin, Josh and Jared, who will forever miss their amazing Father. Gary's legacy lives on through his eight children and 22 grandchildren.
The Fortin Family moved to the Plymouth-Canton area 40 years ago. Gary built the family home in Canton, where a lifetime of traditions and memories were made. Gary loved anything and everything to do with family. He was completely selfless; giving anything and everything to others. Gary worked tirelessly at Ford Motor Company for 49 years at the Livonia Transmission Plant. His co-workers missed him dearly when he retired in 2015. Gary was a Lead Millwright at the transmission plant and was always very proud of Ford and the vehicles he had a part in building.
Gary was a loyal fan of the Detroit Red Wings; holding season tickets for 35 years at Joe Louis Arena. One of his favorite things to do was to take his kids and grandkids to games. He always found a way to make lasting memories from the time he spent with his loved ones. As we celebrate Gary's life and look back on all of the wonderful things he has accomplished, we will never be able to fill the void. He was so good to all of us and we will forever love bigger and deeper because of what he taught us. Our family has grown so big, and while we will all miss him deeply, we will find new ways to honor what you mean to all of us. Thank you for making this world a better place for everyone you ever came in contact with.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in honor of Gary Fortin on Saturday, September 15, 2018. For those offering help to the family during this difficult time, please consider donating in honor of Gary to the Alzheimer's Association. www.alz.org.

Gary's love of family and his zest for life will be his legacy. He was a remarkable human being, husband, father, son, grand father. Our condolences to all the Fortin family and to Lynn, we send you our love. He will always be close to all of you whom he cherished and loved.
