JAMES MORRIS Obituary

James Alexander "Jim" Morris, 81, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, in Stockton, California.
Born on August 15, 1943, in Xenia, Ohio, Jim lived a full and industrious life marked by dedication to his work and deep devotion to his family. Over the years, he held many roles-cook, plumber, contractor-but found his calling as a building inspector. He served most of his career with the City of Lodi before retiring from the City of San Jose. His work reflected not only his strong work ethic but also his remarkable skill and attention to detail.
Jim was a man who thrived on creativity and craftsmanship. Known for being a jack of all trades, he had a passion for building-whether it was restoring cars, crafting furniture, or tackling home improvement projects. His hands were rarely still, always busy bringing ideas to life.
At the heart of Jim's world was his family. He found great joy in cooking for those he loved and took special pride in baking holiday treats that became cherished traditions. His kitchen was often filled with laughter and the comforting aroma of something delicious in the oven-a testament to how he expressed love through food and togetherness.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Kathy Morris; children Liza Morris, James Morris, and Mark Morris; stepdaughters Tracy Porteous (Larry) and Angela Lopez; grandchildren Sarah Iske (Chris), Jimmy Morris, Justin Iske, Regan Porteous, Eddie Lopez, Jadyn Lopez, Maleia Lopez, Goldie Morris, Xander Porteous, and Haddie Morris; and great-grandchildren Kaylee Iske, Nova Costigan, Remi Land, and Ella Lopez. He also leaves behind his brother John Morris.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary Morris; his late wife Alida Crespo; and his sister Joyce.
Jim's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his warmth, ingenuity, and unwavering commitment to family. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
