CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mr. Greg Elkins, 52, of Chapmanville, was born Feb. 10, 1962, at Logan. He went to be with God Sun., April 27, 2014, at CAMC General Division at Charleston.
Greg was a dragline operator for Patriot Coal Co., a member of the UMWA, and attended various different churches and was a Christian. He was a big supporter and active in youth sports and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Greg was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Allen Elkins; grandparents, William Everette and Zida Wingler and John and Phoebee Elkins, and his mother-in-law, Diana Butler.
Survivors include his parents, Cecil "Red" and Margaret Lorraine Wingler Elkins of Amherstdale; wife, Christy Ann Butler Elkins; children, Alec, Noah and Baylee Elkins, at home; siblings, Sherry (Tony) Meade of Augusta, Ga., Crystal Gibson of Angier, N.C., Aleashia (Julio) Hernandez of Fayetteville, N.C., Richard Elkins of Mansfield, Ohio, and Tony (Rhonda) Elkins of Man; brother-in-law, Tony Butler of Logan; father-in-law, Joe Butler of Hurricane; grandmaw-in-law, Geraldine "Jelly Bean" Butler of Holden, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Fri., May 2, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Kit Meade officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Godby.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville is in charge of arrangements.

Red and Lorraine, I am so sad to read of Greg's passing away to heaven. Although it has been many years since I last saw Greg, I have very fond memories of him, we were good buddies at the time. I will always love you both Red and Lorraine, I think of you and your family often. God Bless you all.
