Brett Jacques Obituary

It is with significant sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Brett Jacques on December 13, 2021, at his home in Navarre, Florida. He was a devoted, loving father and doctor, who will be missed by many. Dr. Jacques was born in Madrid, Spain, but primarily raised in Southern Maine. A graduate of Springfield College in Massachusetts, he particularly enjoyed his time as a collegiate wrestler. Following college, he served his country in the United States Army as part of the elite 1st 75th Ranger Battalion at Hunter Army Airfield. When an injury suffered parachuting from a helicopter resulted in an honorable discharge, Brett turned to healing himself and ultimately found his way to the practice of Naturopathic Medicine. He graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (now National University of Natural Medicine) in 1992 and began a long and successful career in both the natural products and diagnostic industries and in private practice. During his nearly 20 years as a practicing doctor in Orange County, California he built a highly passionate following of patients who were especially grateful for his skills in correcting complex hormonal issues. The last 10 of those years were in his own private practice, Newport Longevity Center. Outside of his medical life, Dr. Jacques was an accomplished martial artist. He was the founder of the American Sambo Academy, releasing a video series about this Russian martial art through Paladin Press, co-authoring a book on the subject, and teaching at camps such as Water and Steel. Rugby was an additional passion, and Brett played for many decades in both Oregon and California, including coaching youth rugby for both of his sons. Perhaps the thing Brett excelled at most was being a father. He leaves behind two amazing sons: Chace (22) and Corbin (19), for whom he was a source of strength, fun, discipline, wisdom, and inspiration. He instilled in them a deep love of learning, an obsession with the Red Sox and the Patriots, and a passion for helping others. He was not just their dad, he was their superhero. A piece of him will always live on in each of them. He also leaves behind his wife Pam, dog Sophie, and a large loving clan of Jacques including his sister Cathy, brother Jeff, mother Irene, and countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and more. He is now and will always be missed.

Dear family of Brett Jacques-I am originally from Keene, NH. In December of 1978, Brett while a member of Sanford High Wrestling Team, stayed at my house as a our guest in order to differ costs for the team. I wrestled for Keene High School. My family, particularly my mother, adored Brett after meeting him. He was wonderful to my entire family (9 siblings) and just a great guy despite being on the other side of the matt during the Keene Invitational (now Dave Minickiello Invitational). We then connected again at the Sanford Invitational and kept in touch, briefly. I read he wrestled at Springfield, graduated and joined the Army's finest: Rangers. Following service became a doctor, husband, and dad. Even though I lost touch with him, we actually served in the very same Army at the same time. My career ended after almost 30 years and I did think of him occasionally-mostly because of how he immediately became part of our family (even for a short week). My thoughts and prayers are to all of you. Be comforted with the knowledge, Brett was wonderful to all-even a family in Keene, NH he just met. very respectfully, John R Dundas

Wow I am so heart broken to find this information. He was my naturopathic doctor and helped diagnose me when I thought it was the end for me. Until this day I tell everyone that he was the one who saved me. May he rest in peace, he has been such a influence in my life.

He was my naturopathic doctor for a few years. The best doctor, healer, and person! I came to him when western medicine had no answers for me. He fixed many of my issues in a matter of 3 months. I did a quick search of him to hopefully see him again and found this saddened news. He is missed and such a great loss in the holistic community. Thanks Dr Jacque for all your work here on earth. Prayers and condolences to his family.

He was my naturopathic doctor for 15years. He was a healer I could agree with and man of great compassion. He exhibited strength, dignity and belief in the power of the human body. I will miss him. Peace be,

I would like to say he was one of the most amazing human beings I’ve ever known.
Before I ever got to meet him I was able to correspond with him on many questions regarding my husband.
My husband was a very sick man. Who passed away from cancer! But before he did
he helped me with so many things and answered many questions .as I was the caregiver taking care of my husband at home. And I incorporated many alternative measures. That helped keep my husband around much longer than I would’ve anticipated
I learn so many things from this man ,and I’m so thankful for the very important information that he instilled upon me.
May you fly with the Angels Dr. Jas you were a very special human being ..and thank you for all that you did!!!!!
For all of us!!❤❤

I met Brett in 1988 at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and we became fast friends. Brett was an incredible healer and I watched him become one of the most talented and capable doctors I have ever known. I personally witnessed many occasions where Brett would go above and beyond to alleviate a person's suffering. His mastery of physical medicine was profound. Brett was also an amazing martial artist and a superb teacher of many combat disciplines. To cross hands with Dr. Brett was an experience to remember. Most of all Brett was a loving and patient friend who always had an ear for his fellow man. I will always remember him as an enduring beacon of light in a storm.

Rest now,

My sincere condolences go to Brett´s wife, children, family and loved ones.

Brett and I fought for 1st place at the 1996 U.S. Sombo National Championships.
I was proud to win Silver that day against one of the best of our generation.

I had the privilege to have been part of his elite group of friends that included Coach Bruce Jones and Scott Anderson.

I had planned to invite you and Scott to come share your knowledge at my Dojo in Orlando. I'm so sorry we can't make it happen.
Rest in peace Brett
