Lillian Talley Obituary

Lillian Terrill Talley, 97, of Magnolia, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

She was born on a farm, she married a farmer and she reared eight children on a farm. After her youngest child started school, she worked as a seamstress at Nationwide Uniform. Mrs. Talley was a hard worker and made quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. She valued faith, family and education. She enjoyed traveling to visit her family and took her card playing seriously. In her later years, she worked diligently to put together jigsaw puzzles.

Mrs. Talley was a member of Three Forks Bacon Creek Baptist Church and a longtime volunteer at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fraudie Talley; her daughter, Sharon Bowman; her parents, Luther and Margaret Terrill; and seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a sister, Geraldine Kennedy of Louisville; her children, Howard (Marilyn) Talley of St. Louis, Missouri, Luther Franklin (Leslie) Talley of Titusville, Florida, Glinda (Jack) Hill of Washington, North Carolina, Beatrice (J. Robert) Mahan of Blacksburg, Virginia, Roger Talley of Columbus, Ohio, Damon (Janet) Talley of Hodgenville and Lavada (John) Wells of Indianapolis, Indiana; her son-in-law, Kenny T. Bowman of Magnolia, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. EST Friday, Feb, 17 at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with the Rev. Gordon McDowell officiating. Burial follows in Hammonsville Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. EST Thursday and continues at 9 a.m. EST Friday at the funeral home.

Because of severe allergies, the family requests no fresh flowers and that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Sunrise Volunteers, P.O. Box 150, Hodgenville, KY 42748, or the charity of your choice.

Sorry to hear this. My mother (Ruby Brooks) was one of her card playing Buddies. They were also good friends. Like to set and watch them when they were partners. Thinking of you'll she was sweet Lady.
