Irene Jaynes Obituary

LOWELL - Irene (Malliares) Jaynes, 84, mother of former amateur and professional boxing champion Robert "Irish Beau" Jaynes, died Monday, Aug. 4 at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Lowell after a long illness.

She was the widow of Noble C. Jaynes who died on March 24.

She was born in Lowell, March 3, 1919, the daughter of the late Charles and Cleo Malliares.

Mrs. Jaynes formerly resided on Broadway Street in Lowell and attended St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She had resided at the Fairhaven Nursing Home for the past three years.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Albert Hebert of Merrimack, N.H. and Robin (Boucher) and Andrew LoPilato of Bradford; two sons, Robert "Irish Beau" Jaynes, a well-known former professional boxer in the Lowell area, and Jimmy Jaynes of Amesbury; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late Margaret Jaynes and sister of the late James Malliares.
