Mr. Strombus served as a radioman first class in the Navy during World War II. He served in the American Theater and the European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign, earning two Major Battle Stars during the invasions at Italy's Anzio Beach and Southern France, as well as five other medals during his Navy service.
He was a member of the Navy boxing team, while stationed in the Mediterranean. After the war, he was a catcher in the Lowell Twi-light Baseball League.
He was retired from the Railway Postal Service at South Station in Boston. Prior to that he was with the C.G. Sargent Co. in Westford's Graniteville section.
Besides his wife, survivors include two daughters, M. Linda Saggs of Dracut, and Eileen Weiss and her husband William of Tewksbury; two grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Weiss; two sisters, Mary Moore of San Antonio and Aspasia (Pat) Spanos of Lowell; a brother, Louis Stroumbos of Lowell. He also leaves three sisters-in-law, Chrisanthe Stroumbos and Marjorie Foley, both of Lowell, and Rita Stroumbos of Chicopee; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late George, Alexander and James Stroumbos.
