I just want to say first off My condolences to the family. I served with him while stationed in Alaska 1/25 stryker BDE 1/24 infantry BN as E-5/SGT. I worked very closely with him for several months at Ft. Wainright, AK also when we were deployed to Afghanistan as partner in moving our units equipment. I will always remember him as a great guy always joking around, always in a great mood! I don't think I ever saw the guy in a bad mood as long as I knew him. Even when things seemed frustrating and the days and nights got long and very aggravating, he always stayed positive and I don't think I ever heard the man use a swear word. Everybody would be swearing and carrying on while they worked as most soldiers do and He would always say SGT Melton "Why do you guys walk around here using that kind of language all the time you know we can get the job done just as well without it" very true! on down time we would sit on the "Gator" which was our mode of transportation and just talk about our mission who was annoying us and who was making our jobs more difficult but also about what we both were going to do when we got home. He would speak with me about how excited he was to get home to see his new dog Winnie as she had just opened her eyes and he was going to go get her when we returned. we spoke about what kind of foods we were going to eat and how a beer was going to taste so good when we first returned, and how awesome it was going to be to finally go on leave and take a break from the madness. I don't think we ever had an argument , we worked very well together and accomplished our mission to the best we could and were able to move our BN to Afghanistan and back with little problem. I also remember seeing him around the battalion back at ft. Wainright laughing and joking with people , I can really only describe him being the "class clown" loved to goof around with others if you will and got along with everybody well. He will be missed . if there is anything else that the family would like be to say or write up ill be happy to do that! RIP SFC COHOON.

It was so fun having Nathan and his mom bring the train, of all things, to Minneapolis this past spring to visit our family. One thing I noticed about Nathan during this trip and many other times in his life.... he spoke to many and was kind to everyone. He always took time to say hello to people and often engaged in a friendly conversation. He made meeting "strangers" look so easy. Nathan reminded me of Jesus-- just walking among the people and noticing each one. We miss and love you cousin.

I met Nathan through Christian Motorcycle Association, Arctic Servants Chapter, Fairbanks, Alaska. My late husband, Dave Vargason, and I enjoyed our friendship with Nathan through CMA. He was friendly, always with a helping hand, and a strong relationship with God. We will miss his loving spirit. Now he and Dave will be able to talk again. See you both on the other side.

A life taken too soon, I worked with Nathan at Ft Drum. He was one of my first NCOs in the service. Always on top of his a game and yet still had time to smile and enjoy the time in service. Will never forget when he came down to request a song change on my radio (music was a little loud) in the barracks and also to turn it down. You will be missed brother.

Nathan was a key member to my South Lansing Youth back in the 80's. He was quick to invite friends and share his faith. As an adult I enjoyed text through Facebook with how he was being used around the world. I think it is important to remember that as long as we remember who he was and what he did, he lives on. I am saddened for his loss, but happy for his gain. RIP my friend.

Love ya, mate. I'll never forget your smiling face as a toddler, standing beside that old Triumph I had. Or visiting you at your barracks in Bamburg when you were stationed in Germany, and you helped us pull the roof off our house in the snow at Christmas that year. Miss your face, little brother. Rest in peace, Nathan. xxoo

Oh sweet Nathan, we love you and miss you so much. You will always be a part of the extended Mills family. I loved it when you would call me mom. I loved our MSU/UM banter. I loved how you loved kids, and they absolutely loved you. Most of all, I love you for who you were. We've known him since he was born, watched him grow into an amazing Christian man. I miss you so much already. All our love.

I was stationed with Nate in 2004-2005 with the 172nd SBCT and served with him in Anchorage AK. He was a wonderful NCO and friend. My Family would routinely have him over to have dinner and would go to the range to shoot on weekends. In our conversations over the years, he would always ask how my wife and kids were doing and how much he missed them. He will be missed by all that knew him. Love ya Brother!!! Rest Easy!
